Damn I think too much. Slap me.

I am struggling to find my purpose. My recent brake up, continual moves, lack of social groups and the continued changing and randomness, has left me feeling stranded, with no real interest in where I would like to end up.

Understandably, once someone has children their purpose is clear. Also, the purpose of a child, teenager or new adult is specified by their current interest. But I find myself questioning more than how I can simply enjoy life and feel fulfilled. Is it enough to say I want to live in another country? Will I be happy once I complete my degree? Will life in Thailand fulfill my intentions? I am still committed to my cause. But what is that cause?

These questions are philosophical and psychological in content, and cannot be answered so simply. This analysis makes me think that I should remove some of these layers of complexity that I place on myself. After all, someone can be happy living the most simple of lives. Why should I insist on some sort of enlightenment of satisfaction?

Too many big questions. Maybe I could put this recent spell down to my mourning for the loss of my GF. Hopefully, my time in Melbourne will change my outlook.

And a final big question. Thai or Chinese? Which language? Both are pretty cool.

I'd go with chinese, personally. It has a massive population, is widely spoken, and is a nation developing at a pretty rapid rate. I think Thai would limit your opportunities to Thailand whereas chinese is spoken in othere parts of Asia as well. Also, I'm pretty sure chinese characters are the same regardless of which dialect you speak. They are also the same characters the japanese use when writing in kanji. Like Thai, it is quite complex as it is also a tonal language, but it is a great language to learn. As far as working in the diplomatic corp, I don't neccessarily think that speaking a particular language will gaurantee you go to that location anyway as you generally get moved every 2 to 3 years anyway - especailly if it is considered a hardship posting. So there's my 2 bobs worth - but the choice is all yours.....

    Hi Nengi,

Perhaps you have the opportunity to do both languages. Given that you will have a decent amount of RPL from your previous study, you might be able to fit in the extra subject?

Having two languages could also give you a better qualification for your chosen profession.

    Luv SARA.

  3. Thanks for the advice folks. I feel I might be leaning towards Chinese now. But for more abstract reasons. Mainly due to my needs and wants. My sudden consideration has been due to the conversation I had with a certain someone yesterday. hehehehe she probably doesn't know herself that she has influenced my chain of thought. I'll update when I haven't got monster papers to write.

  4. Oh also, I think 2 languages might be little tough. The idea is great but to learn 1 fluently and the other in a couple of subjects would seem to me to be a waste as I would probably begin to forget the latter in time.

I go with Kiwi as a language choice.

Its a choice language eh bro. etcetera etcetera.

Ah screw it, too damn hot today in melbourne to try for NewZealand humour.

I would suggest follow what you feel comfort in, which I believe is Thai.
